Over the course of the last month we split up the task of creating a 3D layout animatic for the short, based on our storyboard animatic that we had at the beginning of the semester. Each member of our team was assigned a handful of shots, and given a set of stand-in character rigs and set in order to build each shot in Maya. We can I use these mockups in these cameras to build out or animated scenes.
Since we're still working on story updates here and there, this is far from finished. The exercise of turning our storyboards into a 3D layout has shown us a number of places where we can improve things like cinematography and how the story is told. as someone who's most interested in story and cinematography, I look forward to getting into the nitty-gritty and improving how our story is told, shot for shot.
