"I'm Batman"

Updated: May 12, 2021

Our third monster has been the most elusive to create. We want a monster that contrasts Aldo’s size and bulk. Maybe one that’s maybe the “smarter” one of the group. I’ve been putting a lot of hours toward creating this monster, and I’ll have to admit, it’s been tough, and the group is still in pretty deep disagreement.

This is far from a “check it out, we’re done” post, and more of a loose progress post. I’ve spent a lot of time working on developing this character, and here’s what we’ve got so far.

FIRST PASS

We were thinking shorter and spindlier for this character. Maybe a bat or a lizard or something. Here’s some of the team’s first concepts.

SECOND PASS

We liked the idea of a bat monster most. It’s a spin on the vampire concept. Instead of a vampire being Dracula or Robert Pattinson’s character in Twilight, it would just be an anthropomorphic bat. He acts like a typical twenty-something idiot dude, but he’s fuzzy and looks like a bat.

THIRD PASS

We pushed forward with some of my concepts. I refined them, and did a handful of iterations on detail. If we don’t decide to cut this character, he will probably look something like this.

ALSO, HIS NAME IS WALTER

We found this really cute flying fox (which is just a really big bat) rescue on Youtube. There’s an old flying fox on there named Walter. We like that.
